Why give a holiday gift to DUO for a JOB?
With a year-end contribution, you help young people with a migration background take a step closer to finding a job, an education, or an internship. We pair them for six months with a volunteer mentor aged 50 or older: someone who shares their experience, network, and time. Not by doing the work for the young person, but by brainstorming with them and opening doors.
A few examples of what your contribution makes possible:
- Starting a new duo. Every donation helps us pair a young person with a mentor and fund the process of guidance, matching, and follow-up.
- Organizing workshops. Think of the practical training we provide, such as how to write a CV, how to conduct a job interview, or how to check an employment contract.
- Organizing mentor training. Before a mentor can start guiding a young person, they must complete a training program. The training consists of 8 workshops covering various topics.
How does it work?
Many employers offer employees the choice to donate their holiday gift, year-end bonus, or a portion of it to a charity of their choice. Sometimes this is done via a fixed amount per employee, and sometimes via a collective pool that employees decide on together. Both are a great way to support DUO for a JOB.
Does your organization already have such a scheme? Then it is often enough to suggest DUO for a JOB as one of the charities that employees can choose from.
Are you not (currently) working?
That’s no problem. Perhaps you know someone in your network, for example at your former employer, who might find this interesting. A short introduction is often enough to get the conversation started.
