“People recharge from contact with each other. The differences in background provide inspiration and energy. That's magical and free! '
Marije Pronk is an alumnus of the Psychology course and is now using her knowledge and experience as director of DUO for a JOB. This mentoring program supports young people with a migrant background in finding work through the experience and knowledge of people over 50. Together, they are investigating what it takes to help young people move forward, such as finances, housing, education and language. “The age difference works really well,” says Marije. “Friendships are created here. One of the mentors had a stroke a few months ago. His mentee, Rasheed, has been visiting him every day since then. That does indicate that it is an important, meaningful relationship that he has with his mentor. '
“Thanks to psychology, I have insight into the processes that take place internally among young people. And thanks to my knowledge of business administration, I can formulate measurable goals and let the organization grow. In this way, my work can contribute to connecting people with different backgrounds, ages and life paths. I think that's fantastic. '
