Looking for a job
That Rouel wants to work in ICT is a fact. He has almost completed the mbo4 ICT training. The first 3 years of the training he does on Bonaire, the rest he follows at Technology College Rotterdam. With 2 exams to go, Rouel asks DUO for a JOB for help.
DUO for a JOB
DUO for a JOB connects young people with a migration background to volunteers over 50 years old. Together, they spend six months as a duo to find a job, internship or training. The foundation links Rouel to 68-year-old Ruud. As a volunteer mentor, Ruud Rouel helps to provide structure. They work on his self-confidence and prepare applications together.
Ready for the future
Rouel gets rejected a few times, but together they don't let it get them down. And then all of a sudden they hit it off! Rouel is hired as an ICT Support Officer at TWD. A company where Rouel feels right at home and can learn a lot. Ruud helped him follow the right path: “I like structure, but I'm not very good at it. Through Ruud I learned that. Because of him I also believed I could do it. I am very happy to have Ruud as a mentor! I learned many things that I can continue to use in the future".
Successful process
Ruud also looks back on a successful program with Rouel. Six months later, he sees a completely different person sitting across from him: “I think Rouel is a lot more self-confident and confident in life now. When I met him, he didn't really know which way to go. He had a lot of potential but lacked the self-confidence to make it concrete. I see a lot of difference in his whole personality. He also stepped into it very positively and quickly made progress”.
DUO for a JOB is looking for volunteer mentors aged 50+. Wondering if it could be interesting for you? You can register for an informal information meeting via www.duoforajob.nl or by emailing to rotterdam@duoforajob.nl.
