He is sure that Rouel wants to work in ICT. He has almost completed the MBO4 ICT course. He does the first 3 years of the course on Bonaire, and he follows the rest at Techniek College Rotterdam. With 2 exams to go, Rouel comes to DUO for a JOB. After his education, he wants to get to work as soon as possible. There is no shortage of ICT jobs, but how do you make the right choice for a good starter job? Rouel would love someone to help him make decisions. We pair him with mentor Ruud. Ruud helps Rouel add structure. They work on his confidence and prepare applications together. Rouel gets turned down a few times, but together they won't let themselves be fooled. And then it's suddenly a hit! Rouel is hired as ICT Support Officer at TWD. A company where Rouel is completely in the right place and can learn a lot. Ruud helped him get started:
“I like structure, but I'm not very good at it. Ruud taught me that. Because of him, I also believed that I could do it. I am very happy to have Ruud as a mentor! I've learned a lot of things that I can keep using in the future”.
Ruud also looks back on a successful process. 6 months later, he sees a completely different Rouel sitting opposite him:
“I think Rouel is now a lot more self-aware, more secure in life. When I met him, he wasn't sure which way to go. He had many options but lacked the self-confidence to make that concrete. I see a lot of difference in his whole personality. He also got into it very positively and took steps quickly”.
