A project with a strong social impact
By participating in the DUO for a JOB program, mentors and mentees really get to know each other. They build a long-term relationship of trust in which they discover the other person's reality. They learn about their similarities and develop empathy and understanding for each other. These are the ingredients of a more solidary, fair and inclusive society.
What is it?
DUO for a JOB is a intergenerational mentoring program where a young person with a migration background forms a duo with a person over 50. The duo works together for 6 months, the mentor accompanying the young person as a volunteer in their search for work or training. This increases the job opportunities of these young people and makes better use of the knowledge and experience of the seniors.
For whom?
Young people aged 18 to 33 with a migration background who experience problems in the labor market and
people over 50 who are looking for an enriching volunteer experience during their career or after retirement.
How do we act?
By matching the duos based on different criteria (sector, availability, personality, etc.), strong relationships of trust are created. Each duo receives professional guidance and tools from the association, so that everyone has the opportunity to achieve their personal goals.

Frequently asked questions
At the moment, we are only active in Rotterdam in the Netherlands. Our office is located in the Groot Handelsgebouw, directly to Rotterdam Central Station. Here we have a large and nice space where our duos can meet up with each other. Duos are also free to meet at other locations (or online).

DUO for a JOB is an association that was founded in 2012 and started its activities in Brussels, Belgium in 2013. Subsequently, 2 new legal structures were created: DUO for a JOB France in 2019, an 'association loi 1901', and the 'DUO for a JOB' foundation in the Netherlands in 2021.
